About

Hi, I’m Jessica. I’ve loved dogs my whole life, but officially became a Dog Mom in 2014 when my husband and I adopted our first pup, Cookie.

In March of 2019, we adopted Ziggy. Unfortunately we lost him to cancer almost exactly three years after we first brought him home.

While Cookie made me a Dog Mom, Ziggy taught me how to be a Dog Mom of two and how to be an advocate for my pups. Between his cancer journey and training, I’ve learned so much to be a better Dog Mom to Cookie and Chip, who we adopted in October of 2022.

Growing up, I convinced my parents to get Lady, a cocker-spaniel terrier mix. We got her from a pet store because we didn’t know about puppy mills and shelters. There is so much else that we did “wrong,” but we didn’t know better. And many people back then didn’t either.

When I moved out after college, the empty-nesters soon adopted dog, Brie. Though I didn’t live at home, Brie was part of my love of dogs.

While going through basic obedience training with Cookie, we were introduced to canine sports, road trips, and outdoor dining year round.

Ziggy’s short life and 17-month battle with cancer introduced me to canine cancer, holistic veterinary care, and a plethora of resources for canine health, nutrition, training, and so much more.

What I’ve learned from Cookie and Ziggy has equipped me to help Chip more than ever – especially helpful given his reactivity (it’s not a bad word!), anxiety, and barking.

I want to share my experiences and what I’ve learned with new pawrents or long-time pawrents running into new challenges.

Everything I share on this site are my own experiences with my dogs. What works or hasn’t with mine may not apply to you and your dogs. I urge you to consult with the appropriate people on your team (from vets to trainers, groomers, and other caregivers).
